Actimel har efter vetenskaplig prövning visat sig stödja kroppens försvar hos medelålders personer. En studie, som utfördes på 45 friska personer mellan 51 och 58 år, visade att Actimel ökade kapaciteten hos vissa immunceller hos personerna i urvalsgruppen jämfört med dem som inte drack Actimel.

Vid intensiv sportutövning, som tävlingssporter, kan kroppens försvarsrespons försvagas. Det är därför viktigt att stödja kroppens försvar i sådana sammanhang.

En studie med idrottsmän visade att de negativa effekterna på kroppen av fysisk ansträngning var lägre bland dem som drack Actimel. Intag av Actimel bidrog alltså till att stödja kroppens försvar.

Danone ville med Actimel demonstrera de positiva probiotiska effekterna på kroppens försvar under perioder av intensiv intellektuell stress. En studie utfördes därför på universitetsstudenter i åldrarna 18 och 23 under två separata tentamensperioder.

Resultaten visade att ett dagligt intag av Actimel betydligt ökade förekomsten av en viss typ av immunceller som är nödvändiga för att bibehålla och stödja kroppens försvar och immunförsvar.
